TÜRKIYE
TÜRKIYE
Türkiye faces remaining challenges, yet is assessed as on track or maintaining progress toward SDG 1 (No Poverty). The country has demonstrated strong commitment to poverty reduction, with the United Nations noting “meaningful progress” and the successful elimination of absolute poverty and hunger. Using the threshold of 50% of equivalent median household income, Türkiye’s poverty rate had fallen to 14.4% by 2019, reflecting substantial improvements in living standards.
Issues such as relative poverty, income inequality, and vulnerability to economic shocks remain significant. As of 2026, high inflation has intensified pressures on households, particularly affecting workers and low‑income groups, and has complicated ongoing poverty‑reduction efforts. Türkiye has incorporated the 2030 Agenda into its national policy framework, including the 11th and 12th Development Plans, yet it continues to face challenges in fully achieving SDG 1 (No Poverty).
