MOROCCO
MOROCCO
Morocco faces ongoing challenges, with progress on SDG 1 improving only moderately and still insufficient to meet the 2030 target. The country has nonetheless made important strides in aligning national development policies with the SDGs, reducing extreme poverty to below 5% over the past decade despite persistent economic disparities and climate‑related shocks. Morocco has integrated SDG 1 into its national strategies, shifting from a growth‑centred approach to a broader agenda of social transformation and inclusion.
Morocco continues to face important challenges in achieving SDG 1, including climate‑related pressures on agriculture, persistent territorial and social inequalities, economic vulnerability, and gaps in data and implementation capacity. To respond to these issues, the country is advancing targeted anti‑poverty measures within the broader framework of its New Development Model. Morocco is pursuing SDG 1 (No Poverty) through comprehensive social‑protection reforms, direct financial support for vulnerable households, and rural‑development initiatives.
