GERMANY
Germany plays a significant role in advancing SDG 5 (Gender Equality) through strong legal frameworks, social policies, and international cooperation. As one of the largest economies in the world and an influential member of the European Union, Germany has actively promoted women’s rights, gender equality in the workplace, and women’s participation in political and economic decision-making. The country also supports global gender equality initiatives through its cooperation with the United Nations and development programs.
Germany has made considerable progress, including high levels of women’s education, increasing female representation in politics, and the introduction of policies supporting equal opportunities. However, challenges remain, such as the persistent gender pay gap, unequal distribution of unpaid care work, lower representation of women in executive positions, and gender-based violence.
